Explore Brunswick's newest creative community hub.
Balam Balam Place – meaning 'butterfly' in Woi-wurrung – is a new kind of community centre supported by a dedicated in-house team providing accessible, affordable and flexible space for creative and community use. Spread across a campus of repurposed school buildings, a heritage house and brand new five story building centre, Balam Balam Palace sits within native gardens and lawns.
It’s also home to Blak Dot Gallery, Melbourne's only Indigenous-run contemporary art gallery with a physical space. Established in 2011, Blak Dot showcases First Nations and global Indigenous art through exhibitions, residencies and performances – a sovereign, culturally safe space championing contemporary Indigenous practice.
