Masta Ace

With N’fa Jones, P-Unique, DJ Paul Gorrie and Drmngnow, Belle Bangard, Will Scullin and an all-star local band of Melbourne musicians

Having recently released his first solo album in over a decade, The Falling Season, Masta Ace is like a fine wine. He just keeps getting better with age. From his early days as a member of Marley Marl’s infamous Juice Crew, to his later years as part of the hip hop supergroup EMC, Ace has consistently made his mark on the hip hop underground. A true legend of the game, he continues to prove his status as a successful artist, member of hip hop royalty and an artist who can still rock a room after three powerful decades.

For a one-off collaboration, specially commissioned by Brunswick Music Festival, Masta works with an all-star band of Melbourne musicians. Led by Music Director/guitarist Cristian Barbieri (The CB3/Billy Davis and the Good Lords) the band features Audrey Powne (Au Dre/The Do Yo Thangs) trumpet/vox, Joel Trigg (Jess Fairlie/The Rookies/Joel Trigg) on keys, Caleb Shand (Deandre Brackensick/RINI) on bass and Ivan ‘Choi’ Khatchoyan (Cookin On 3 Burners/Mayfield) on drums.

Featuring special guests N’fa Jones, P-Unique, DJ Paul Gorrie and Drmngnow, Belle Bangard (Gospel Collective) and Will Scullin (Big Words), this huge show unites hip hop pioneers from down under with the New York underground.

“A 30-year tenure in any profession moulds an undoubted master of a craft. Now on his eleventh studio album The Falling Season, Masta Ace, the punchline standard bearer, dramatizes a prequel of the time period when he began his path to the adopted persona that made him a Hip Hop legend.”
