A show dedicated to the amazing growth and development of
young Australian artists in the roots music arena.
Fireside Bellows are the remarkable country/harmony
collaboration of Melbourne songwriter
Jordie Lane and Canadian singer-songwriter Tracy
McNeil. They first were acquainted via the internet and
when Tracy moved to Melbourne they met for real in a bar in
Fitzroy and found they had a special affinity for each others
music and started gigging together. The pair co-wrote and
released their debut album, No Time To Die, in 2008, to rave
reviews and countless radio features including on Radio National
and Triple R. Their mix of banjo, lap steel, driving guitars,
and stunning vocal harmonies are complimented live by the
ingenious talents of both Andy Baylor on Fiddle/Mandolin,
and Rod Boothroyd on upright Bass, who will both be
performing in this special show.
Their debut CD No Time to Die covers the full gamut
of country styles from tragic murder ballad to oh-so-clever
love ditties via rockabilly and a touch of western swing...
But the real strength of this CD is the sweet harmony vocals
and classic lyrics The Daily Planet, ABC Radio National
Sal Kimber and the Good Ole Boys offer a unique and
refreshing take
on Australiana. Sounding rural and rootsy but with urban savvy,
their
live shows are charismatic and engaging. From cut back duets
on
the banjo and glockenspeil to five piece rock n roll alt-country
tracks,
they share tales of ghost towns, rebels, romance and rain.
Described
by Triple R FM as one of Australias best emerging
songwriters Sal
released her debut album Sounds Like Thunder in 2008.
Peter Fidler is a much sought after sideman in the
Melbourne bluegrass and alt country music scene. His first
instrument is the dobro and his first album Slide Night is
the first Australian dobro album ever recorded. Pete,
with Hamish Davidson and guitarist singer Bill Jackson will
perform a selection of his original songs and tunes from his
excellent debut album.
