We welcome the return of Shane Howard, one of Australia's
most important and influential writers and singers. Shane
will soon be releasing his 10th solo album, to add to the
three ground-breaking albums with Goanna and countless other
recording projects over his illustrious career. His commitment
to indigenous Australia's artists is well documented and his
support for young and emerging artists has helped countless
performers in their professional development. Despite his
many other community interests Shane continues to be a prolific
songwriter, he and his songs continue to champion the cause
of the underdog, provide meaningful insights that has helped
to build a bridge between Aboriginal and non Aboriginal peoples.
Howard continues to pay homage to the culture of his Irish
ancestors and the culture of the Aboriginal people whose land
he lives on. He combines a deep understanding of poetic and
musical folk traditions and captures something essential of
the spirit of Australia in words and music.
