A night of high-class bluegrass from our special guest
one of the great American bluegrass innovators, singer and
songwriter Peter Rowan, and Australias top rated bluegrass
band The Davidson Brothers.
PETER ROWAN
For over forty years, cult bluegrass and country singer Peter
Rowan has been recognised as one of the finest proponents
of bluegrass and American traditional music. Grammy Award
winner and five-time Grammy nominee, he began his professional
career playing guitar, singing lead vocals and co-writing
as a member of the Bluegrass Boys, led by the founding father
of bluegrass, Bill Monroe. His long career has seen him perform
and record with the likes of Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas, Norman
Blake, David Grisman, Jerry Garcia, Vassar Clements and Peter
Tosh. An artist of unusual depth and imagination, Rowan experiments
with other influences (rock, reggae, Tex-mex, Celtic, swing),
while never losing track of the deep roots and musical purity
integral to his presence. A singer and songwriter without
equal, Rowan's singing is of the classic high lonesome, borrowed
from the Appalachian ballad singers. Rowan is touring his
latest recording 'Quartet' made with the brilliant instrumentalist
Tony Rice. .

enormous respect for the traditions of the genre.
The Davidson Brothers fast-tracking music career
is a combination of passion, energy, respect for tradition,
and destiny... Two young blokes with all the energy and drive
of their generation and an innate ability to transpose that
energy to a younger audience... the spontaneity of youth and
some excellent self-penned songs... And then of course there
