Mick Cameron was a favourite Brunswick musician and writer
who sadly passed away last year. This is special tribute by
the musicians of Brunswick, most of whom were friends and
all of them admirers of Mick's unique music and songs.
Mick was a vocalist and guitar player and a founding member
of Australia's best old timey band the famous Headbelly Buzzard.
Mick was also a writer of note; tunes, songs, short stories,
poems and as a vehicle for his writing he formed his own band
the wonderful Sandilands. The band provided sparse banjo mandolin,
accordion and uke accompaniment to Mick's singing, guitar
and dobro playing in a style that could only be likened to
the pre war white blues but with an unmistakable Australian
bent. He is sadly missed, a great loss of a unique original
artist.
