It's another big dance night at the East with the Louisiana
and New Orleans swing of The Red Stick Ramblers and
early acoustic blues of the Ten Cent Shooters from
West Australia. Get yer dancing shows on for the Ramblers
and their southern swing, Cajun waltz, two steps and Zydeco
high jinks, while the Shooters relive the early blues of the
twenties and thirties. The blues of the Shooters is based
on the recordings of the pre war era, recordings of the music
which originated in the fields, the kitchens and juke joints
of the rural south, unamplified and raw and remains some of
the greatest recorded folk music of the last century. The
sound is tight, but the loose feels and variable tempos in
the style of the original performers give the 'Shooters an
infectious vibe which never fails to get the dance floor jumping.
Peter Woodward's precise finger style guitar, tapping foot
and vocals which sound like they come from a 78 RPM record
are complimented by Scott Wise's fills and solos on mandolin,
national steel and harp, and Sean Diggins completely appropriate,
energetic slap style double bass playing.
