MELBOURNE SCOTTISH FIDDLE CLUB
The amazing story of the Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club continues;
from a small group of enthusiasts getting together in the
mid nineties to the 40 plus fiddlers of today, and the release
in December 2008 of their 4th. Independent recording Gates
of Gold. Since their last appearance at the Brunswick festival
in 2006 when they launched their 3rd. album a long way from
home, they have mounted two self-funded and highly successful
tours to New Zealand and Tasmania. They continue to recruit
new players young and old to the fold, to learn and perform
the great music of the Scottish fiddle tradition, and in addition
to playing, several of the members of the club now compose
their own tunes which have found there way into the repertoire
of this wonderful community music organization.

COOL YOUNG PEOPLE
The first half of the program will consist of selections from
several different combinations of the younger players, under
the collective name of Cool Young People and the second part
of the show will be the full club in all its glory including
dance segments which are now part of the Club's standard repertoire.
