PETER ROWAN
For over forty years, cult bluegrass and country singer Peter
Rowan has been recognised as one of the finest proponents
of bluegrass and American traditional music. Grammy Award
winner and five-time Grammy nominee, he began his professional
career playing guitar, singing lead vocals and co-writing
as a member of the Bluegrass Boys, led by the founding father
of bluegrass, Bill Monroe. His long career has seen him perform
and record with the likes of Tony Rice, Jerry Douglas, Norman
Blake, David Grisman, Jerry Garcia, Vassar Clements and Peter
Tosh. An artist of unusual depth and imagination, Rowan experiments
with other influences (rock, reggae, Tex-mex, Celtic, swing),
while never losing track of the deep roots and musical purity
integral to his presence. A singer and songwriter without
equal, Rowan's singing is of the classic high lonesome, borrowed
from the Appalachian ballad singers. Rowan is touring his
latest recording 'Quartet' made with the brilliant instrumentalist
Tony Rice.

RED STICK RAMBLERS
The Red Stick Ramblers are direct from Baton Rouge Louisiana,
the kind of place where life slows down for good food, music
and dancing. The music of Ramblers teems with unique southern
Louisiana culture and is a diverse blend of Cajun, Creole,
Zydeco, western swing, blues and early jazz. The music of
Louisiana has a lot in common with the cuisine. An initial
blast of heat usually commands attention right off the bat,
but then, slowly but surely, all sorts of subtler notes start
to creep in, making for an irresistibly captivating experience.
With dual fiddles, the band touches on all things string-driven.
The buzz word is eclectic, but paradoxically, they stay rooted
in traditional music. They're purists, and they're not purists.
