MAMADOU DIABATE

Mamadou Diabate is a modern master of the Kora (African
harp). Born in Mali he is a descendenof the West African Mandinka
griot caste, Mamadou's musical lineage goes back sevencenturies.
Mamadou began learning the Kora from his father at the age
of 4.
He was then trained by his famous cousin, Toumani Diabate
and now Mamadou's
solo Kora performances are gaining him worldwide fame. His
first solo album
was nominated for a Grammy. Mamadou has played with the greatest
world and jazz musicians in the world on stages across the
globe including jazz luminaries Donald Byrd and Randy Weston,
Zimbabwean legend Thomas Mapfumo, and blues masters Eric Bibb
and Guy Davis. Now based in the United States, Mamadou performs
around North
America and Europe. Interested in bringing the kora to new
audiences, he
remains rooted in the traditions of the Manding kora and his
griot heritage.

CIRCLE OF RHYTHM
Circle of Rhythm are Greg Sheehan, Bobby Singh
and Ben Walsh have between them changed the face of
percussion in Australia, they are known individually and collectively
through their work in groups such as Taikoz, The Bird, Utungan
Percussion,
Skin, Pablo Percusso, Dha and many more. This group is the
result of years
of collaboration together through many different ensembles.
Circle of Rhythm exhibits their masterful skills of drumming
but doesn't shy away from melodic percussion, creating a varied
and accessible listening experience. Expect a powerhouse of
razor-sharp, precision beats and drumming of the highest order
delivered in a sometimes humorous and relaxed
Australian approach.
