"Think Baz Luhrmann meets Tim Burton, think The Cat
Empire with manic depression." Beat Magazine.
Martin Martini and The Bone Palace Orchestra have carved
a unique and infamous niche across Australia's darker musical
nooks, as a raucous, downtrodden gypsy rock band renowned
for their high energy stage shows and their bastard bent distinctive
song writing. Described as poetic, political, eccentric and
menacingly attractive, the Bone Palace Orchestra draws upon
a distinctive range of musical influences and artists such
as Nick Cave to Cole Porter, Tom Waits to Shostakovich. Front
man Martin Martini, set about creating a sound that fuses
musical genres whilst exploring Martini's love of the macabre.
From dance, to music theatre, to collaborative projects such
as the upcoming Sydney Opera House 2008 premiere of 'The Vermin's
Ball' starring iconic artist Chrissy Amphlett, Martini's dense
performing history, physicality and creative curiosity continue
to drive the band in new and strange directions.
