APODIMI COMPANIA We welcome back home to Brunswick the fabulous Apodimi Compania now resident in Athens, and featuring three original members George and Manolis Galiatsos and Hector Cosmos. The trio is joined again by two outstanding musicians from Athens, on vocals the enchanting Maria Deikta, a dynamic performer who adds a sparkle to the band that festival audiences are sure to love and multi instrumentalist and vocalist Yiannis Niarhos playing bouzouki, guitar and baglama. This line up will again bring the very best of old and new Greek and Cretan folk tunes and dances, both rural and urban styles, and stunning arrangements of classic rebetiki. The influence of Apodimi is still felt in the Melbourne and Australian Greek and Cretan communities even after more than 15 years back in their homeland, and they will not be disappointed in the band’s latest offerings featuring their flawless musicianship and vocal prowess.
