PIGRAM BROTHERS
Broome's Pigram Brothers, whose standing in WA's indigenous community is akin to musical royalty, combine to produce an infectious mix of earthy harmonies and acoustic stringed instruments; their saltwater roots sound bringing to life songs about their saltwater lifestyle and homeland. In the song My Land, Stephen Pigram describes the pleasures of hunting and gathering in saltwater country: "My land…. by the waterside….feeding on the rising tide . . . high above the mangrove down Burgoogoon, hunting for my family."

The songs from the two Pigram Brothers albums Saltwater Country (produced by Shane Howard of Goanna) and Jiir (produced by NY based Kerryn Tolhurst of Dingoes fame) have become anthems for the awesome Kimberley region of far northwestern Australia, embedding themselves into its ancient landscape. Under The Mango Tree is the Pigram Brothers latest release, produced and recorded at Pearlshell Studios in Broome by Alan Pigram receiving an ARIA nomination for Best World Music Album. 2009 has seen Alan and Stephen Pigram in new roles as producers of a feature film set in the Kimberley. 'Mad Bastards' is due for release late 2010.

TONCHI McINTOSH
Tonchi McIntosh is a singer songwriter of impeccable character and depth who works running workshops and developing programs addressing health and welfare issues among young people in indigenous outback communities. This work has lead him to many country areas in NSW, far north Queensland, and the Kimberly region of WA. He has been a constant visitor to Broome and its hinterland where he made friends with the famous Pigram Brothers, and also had the opportunity to do some writing and recording with the boys on various projects. It¹s a pleasure to have the opportunity then to present these artists in the same concert environment at the Brunswick Music Festival.
